Matt Weidinger and Lance Anderson formed Matchedash Parish in 2018. Comprised of 12 of Canada’s top blues and roots music artists (including Weidinger and Anderson), Matchedash Parish is a gospel and roots powerhouse, guaranteed to bring the house down at every show. Their debut album, Saturday Night, was released to critical acclaim in 2019.
Matchedash Parish performs original songs and masterful arrangements of some of the greatest soul and gospel tunes. The group includes Juno award-winning producer and music industry veteran Lance Anderson, along with Kitchener phenom Matt Weidinger as well as a trio of background singers led by the amazing vocalist Quisha Wint (featuring Michelle White and Jill Zahdeh).
Matchedash Parish is backed by a nine-piece band including two drummers, Memphis born Shamakah Ali (Al Green, The Barkays) and Ben Rollo (Lucky Peterson, Danny Michel); percussionist Art Avalos (Manteca); Gene Hardy on saxophone (Bourbon Tabernacle Choir), William Sperendei on trumpet (Harry Connick Jr., Colin James), guitarist Mackenzie Jordan (Jackets) and Mark Mcintyre on bass. Lance Anderson and Matt Weidinger both play the Hammond organ, the Wurlitzer and piano, with Weidinger also playing the guitar and mandolin and Anderson on the accordion and clavinet. The rhythm this group creates is a freight train that will pick you up and drop you down in the swamplands of the south.
