Blackburn
Winners of the 2010 Maple Blues Award for Best New Artists, Blackburn have gone on to play some of the biggest festivals in Canada. They opened for Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings at the Toronto Jazz Festival and have made appearances at the Montreal Int. Jazz Festival, The Mont Tremblant, Waterfront and Kitchener Blues Festivals to name a few.
2B3 – The Toronto Sessions
Seven of Canada and North America’s premiere players came together over three days to play with and against each other in an old fashioned ‘cutting’ session. All present for each sessions, ready to be called on, to spontaneously ‘go out and give it a try.’ A soul classic here, a rock standard next, with a few originals thrown in. Back to back organs and a dream rhythm section. Turn on the recorders and capture the drama.
Lance Anderson
With Shorthanded, I got to play some of my favourite tunes, and showcase the compositions I play when I am hired to play festivals as a Blues piano artist. The piano is recorded in a unique way which puts the listener on the piano bench next to the player. I didn’t want the listener to feel like they were out in the audience listening to a concert, which is how most piano CDs are recorded.
anderson/sloski
Footwork – this CD of original and cover tunes features some hot ‘footwork’ from both these talented performers. Lance Anderson is a practitioner of the almost lost art of playing bass using both feet on the Hammond organ foot pedals. Michael Sloski is Canada’s pre-eminent roots drummer and has a groove that is totally unique.
The Prima Donnas
My Regeneration – All tracks were recorded with everyone in the room at the same time;. lead vocals and horns included. One room, no isolation, no overdubs. Just REAL players playing REAL music in REAL time. All backgrounds were done while they played their instruments. We wanted to capture the drama of the performance and the energy of this band without resorting to any studio tricks.
Cameo Blue Band
10, 000 Hours – A whirlwind compilation of original and classic Blues Rock tunes that never fail to satisfy and entertain.
Commanding rock & roll piano from Ray Harrison, world-class guitar playing from John Bride and soulful vocals of John Dickie, along with the masterful groove of celebrated drummer Mike Sloski and Tommy Griffiths on bass move every tune to its zenith.
Make it Real Records is a label formed by producer/musician Lance Anderson.
“Our aim is to put the emphasis on recording great artists and great performances by using the advancements in recording technology to serve the music rather than the other way around.”
– Lance Anderson
